Forme & Sens encourages unguarded dialogue around mental health – prompting the release of internalized experiences via the concept of Transparency.

With words, objects and visuals we are externalizing normalcies that are unknowingly shared among a vast community and resisting mental health stigma.

This space was created to support the acknowledgement and understanding of complex human emotion through discussion and tangible representation – often in collaboration with a growing community of contributors.

From Founder & Editor Tiana Petrullo.

Forme & Sens is a meaningful project to me that has risen from a personal struggle with mental health – both my own and that of those surrounding me. Once I became able to verbally express these daily experiences through conversation with others, I found that I was nowhere near alone. It took me time to take the first steps toward comprehending my emotions, but knowledge and awareness made a drastic difference in my understanding.

I find a connection to every story written for this journal and I hope that you can either find similar connections and/or learn something new on the broad topic of mental health. I will always be thankful for this community and everyone who has put their walls down with me.

Although it has not been entirely comfortable for me to put my thoughts and feelings in public in this way, it is important to me that I verbalize my personal experiences for others, especially while asking others to do the same.

The beautiful and raw experiences shared in the journal on our site have been published with the permission of the contributors and have been written exclusively for Forme & Sens unless noted otherwise. All stories have been willingly shared and written to reflect what is personally most prevalent to the writer. Together we offer knowledge, awareness and acknowledgement.

It is important to remember that everyone has had different experiences. Personal comparisons are not encouraged. However, we hope that you can find connections to the experiences that have been shared and/or learn something new on the broad topic of mental health.

Journal entries may contain references to trauma relating to various experiences such as addiction, sexual abuse, eating disorders, self-harm, etc. If any of these topics cause sensitivity, please email us with a recommendation for reading.
