From Founder & Editor Tiana Petrullo.
Forme & Sens is a meaningful project to me that stems from a personal struggle with my own mental health. Once I began to verbally express what I deal with daily in conversations with others, I found that I was nowhere near alone. Although it is not entirely comfortable for me to be putting my thoughts and feelings in public in this way, I think that it is most important to verbalize mental health experiences. I find a connection to every story written for this journal and I hope that you can either find similar connections or learn something new on the broad topic of mental health.
I will always be thankful for this community and everyone who has put their walls down with me.
Forme & Sens offers a space for readers to take a new step in understanding and acknowledging the complexities of human experiences. We encourage discussions to combat stigma around normalcies that are unknowingly shared and offer a tangible representation of these sentiments in hopes to create and continuously grow this community.
The beautiful and raw experiences shared in the journal on our site have been published with the permission of the contributors and have been written exclusively for Forme & Sens. To encourage a contribution of the most raw and real experience, minimal guidance has been given. All stories have been willingly shared and written to reflect what is personally most prevalent to the writer. Together we offer knowledge, awareness and acknowledgement.
Please remember that everyone has had different experiences and personal comparisons are not encouraged. However, we do hope that you can either find connections to similar experiences that have been shared, or learn something new about the broad topic of mental health.
Journal entries may contain references to trauma relating to various experiences such as addiction, sexual abuse, eating disorders, self-harm, etc. If any of these topics cause sensitivity, you are welcome to email us with a recommendation for reading.
